"We are a non-directed Christian homeschool support organization, seeking to unite like-minded parents who desire to enrich their children's education by sharing academic and social opportunities as values and schedules permit. We encourage each family to make choices that support the goals and values of their individual homeschool.
Living by Heart was founded upon the principle that each family provides a learning environment in its home and will learn based on their experiences and how God leads them to interact with those experiences. If you are feeling a void within the "structure" of our support group, it is likely that at least one other family shares your feeling---but not everyone. Therein lies the beauty of Living By Heart. We do not function with a "Board" of directors. Each man shall give account of himself to God (Romans. 14:12)
Feel free to initiate other activities or gatherings. Someone else and perhaps many in the group will likely join you and be glad YOU led by heart!
We are registered with the SC Home Educators Association and are open to homeschoolers who share a goal of wholeheartedly discipling our children on a daily basis toward a biblical world view of life at every turn. The focus is on the children --giving them social and academic interaction and enrichment, letting them express ideas and some of their "education" with each other. Another focus is in helping teens develop leadership skills. As teens are mentored by their parents, they then also mentor younger children.
How often we meet, where we meet, and what we do when we meet is determined by the needs and interests of those who meet! Every member has a voice. As homeschoolers, each of us choose extra curricular activities based on our personal family goals and identity. Those will never match perfectly with another family, nor will our schedules. Yet we can all work together to encourage one another and build each other up (1 Thes. 5:11) and celebrate our uniqueness while watching our children flourish under our creative umbrella of home education.
Ultimately, our Father is the Master Teacher. We are merely His instruments in the lives of our children here on earth."
